Certification Levels
This page explains the different levels of certification. Please note: The prerequisites given are for the full track of certification only. For a complete view of prerequisites please see this chart.
Level I: Assistant Facilitator
Pre-requisite: 40 hours of TrainingThis is the introductory level of certification that requires the holder to have completed a specified amount of training (depending upon the track they are looking to get certified in), as well as pass a written and practical test. A practitioner with this level of certification has demonstrated the skills and knowledge needed to assist in the operations of a ropes course under the supervision of a more experienced practitioner.
Level 2: Lead Facilitator
Prerequisites: 80 hours of Training and 200 hours of documented experienceThis is an advanced certification requiring more extensive training and facilitation experience. Level II practitioners have demonstrated skills and knowledge needed to lead challenge course programming including performing rescues (for all belayed track certifications.)
Challenge Course Manager Level
Prerequisites: 110 hours of Training and 500 hours of documented experienceThis level of certification is for practitioners that manage challenge course programs. In addition to all the skills and knowledge required for level II, the CCM certification verifies management specific competencies such as risk management, staff supervision and development, local operating procedures, and the internal inspection of the challenge course—which needs to be an ongoing occurrence between the annual outside inspections by a qualified professional.
