DPS REGULATIONS

We are happy to help Massachusetts Challenge Course and Climbing Wall Operators with the licensing process.   We have two licensed state inspectors on our staff, and our inspections (link) are fully qualified for the licensing process.  We can also serve as your Qualified Challenge Course Professional, as required on the License application.  Give us a call, our experience licensing our two courses and the many conversations we've had with DPS about the licensing process can save you time.  We're also sharing templates for staff training plans and local operating procedures.

Proposed Legislation

  1.  New legislation is being proposed to address the following issues and concerns that exist under the current legislation and regulations:

*Regulate Challenge Courses in an appropriate way, not as an amusement device
*Provide for a specialized advisory board which can set up appropriate screening for     challenge course inspectors
*Classify Challenge Courses as educational/recreational devices for insurance purposes, at a lower cost than amusement classifications
*Ensure that organizations which already do CORI checks for staff do not have to do them a second time
