For over 22 years, John C. Ireland, M.Ed., has been working with students described as having severe behavior disorders, and the staff that work with them. His experience covers a wide array of responsibilities in a treatment environment including Supervisor of Treatment Programs, Director of Training and Staff Development and Director of Adventure Programs for residential treatment schools.

For the last 17 years, John has designed and delivered outdoor experience based therapy programs to client’s who suffer from depression, display physical aggression, substance abuse, have sexualized behavior as well as suffering from PTSD. In addition, he has done individual as well as group counseling.

A long time student of the Martial Arts, John is a certified instructor in T’ai Chi and Shaolin Kempo Karate. Over the years he has blended many of the concepts and teachings of the Martial Arts and other Eastern philosophies with the counseling and group work he does.

As an ordained minister of a non-denominational church, he is a qualified Spiritual Counselor. He has also obtained certification as a life coach. He is a certified trainer in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), through Cornell University, and has helped to design and implement programming aimed at reducing and eliminating the need for physical interventions at residential schools.
